Middlesbrough 1-2 Sunderland (AET) The FA Cup with Budweiser Fourth Round Proper replay 7.45pm, Wednesday 8 February 2012 Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough FC Live on ITV1 Live TV broadcast fee - £62000 Winning club will receive £90000 from The FA prize fund Stephane Sessegnon scored Sunderland's extra-time winner to secure a memorable FA Cup with Budweiser triumph in this Tees-Wear Fourth Round derby clash. Sunderland will now host Arsenal in a Fifth Round tie. Championship side Middlesbrough gave as good as they got against the Premier League's form team and pushed Martin O'Neill's men all the way after coming back from a goal down. Overall, Sunderland were probably good value for their win, however, and seemed set for victory after Jack Colback gave them the lead shortly before half-time with a great striker from the edge of the penalty area in the 42nd minute. Middlesbrough bounced back, though, and equalised in impressive fashion in the 57th minute through Lukas Jutkiewicz. Curtis Main got the assist with a superb header to Jutkiewicz, who found the space to finish strongly past Mignolet with a headed effort of his own. O'Neill said: "Middlesbrough did very well, but I felt we were better and I am delighted we won the game. It was a fantastic effort and how many times have I said that in the last two months or so? It was a fantastic Cup tie." O'Neill was right as the Riverside rocked to a cracking soundtrack of two sets of passionate fans as the match went into extra ...
Arsenal's troubled season took another turn for the worse after they were deservedly beaten by a rejuvenated Sunderland in the FA Cup fifth round. Fourth in the Premier League and facing likely elimination in the Champions League, the Gunners are set for a seventh successive trophyless year. Kieran Richardson put Sunderland ahead with a deflected shot before half-time. Arsenal pushed for an equaliser but Sebastian Larsson's shot was put into his own net by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Use accessible player and disable flyout menus It was an unfortunate moment for the 18-year-old, who was one of Arsenal's more impressive performers on a dark day for the club. Arsene Wenger will inevitably come under increased pressure but not for the first time this week he was badly let down by his players. Wenger demanded a response from them following Wednesday's 4-0 Champions League last-16 first-leg defeat by AC Milan - but he got nothing of the sort. The 10-time winners were out-thought, out-fought and out-worked by two-time winners Sunderland, who avenged their league defeat by Arsenal a week previously and have won 10 of their 15 games under Martin O'Neill. Wenger's current team clearly lack the quality of previous squads and they will not be relishing next Sunday's Premier League visit of high-flying local rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Sunderland 0-2 Everton - Jelavic goal & Official FA Cup sixth round highlights | FATV To find out more about the The FA Cup visit: thefa.com The FA Cup on Facebook www.facebook.com Follow us on Twitter twitter.com Everton set up an FA Cup semi-final Merseyside derby at Wembley with a deserved victory at Sunderland. January signing Nikica Jelavic fired the Toffees in front in the first half when he swept in Magaye Gueye's cross. They doubled their lead with a horrible own goal from David Vaughan, who kicked the ball against himself as a Jelavic shot looked to be trickling wide. Sunderland's best chance fell to Stephane Sessegnon but he hooked a shot against the post from a tight angle. It ended hopes of the Black Cats returning to Wembley for the first time in 14 years but sets up a mouth-watering clashing between Everton and rivals Liverpool. That was nothing less than David Moyes's side deserved after a dominant performance in this replay. A pulsating atmosphere led to a hectic start but it was Everton that produced the moments of quality and who looked particularly menacing in the air. They were only denied a 20th-minute opener by a wonderful save from Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, whose quick reflexes kept out Tim Cahill's powerful header from six yards. The Belgian keeper was called upon again to keep out headers from Cahill and Jelavic as the Toffees piled the pressure on the home side. And they finally got the breakthrough midway through the first half ...
