(With Annotations) www.youtube.com - Boeing 777-300. In-flight Economy experience Dubai to New York JFK on Emirates. Ultra long distance flights. The flight takes off at 02:00 but was delayed by an hour or so. If you look up the stats in this flight, its always delayed. I presume its because there are so many Emirates flights flying in to connect passengers to JFK, maybe they try and delay the flight so as not leave anyone out (if possible). The duration of this flight is appox 12:30 hours. Sometimes with headwind it ticks towards 13 hours. The timing is pretty good. takes off at 2 in the morning. This video shows the taxi and take-off. You will also notice a 380 push-back. Once airborn i took a 5 and half hour nap (as you will see in the vid). Someone on the flight fell ill - and you'll also notice the crew trying to do "something" i am not sure what that orange box had inside. This is also the first time i saw the door leading to the crew rest area. And finally, a hard landing at JFK at around 8am... Sorry for the "bad angle" and the window-frame, it was quite hard to film the wing and the engine. Mention the short-leased Gulf Air Boeing 737-800 from XL Airways Germany (D-AXLD)
Two of us booked Economy seats on Air New Zealand's new 777-300ER for a recent long haul Pacific crossing [Aircraft ZK-OKN]. We were given the option of paying extra to upgrade to the "Skycouch" [seen at 4:35]. Very nice as you are guaranteed to have the center seat open. The "couch" has numerous configurations; you can use it as a leg rest, or in the extended and locked position to make a bed. During boarding you are given a thin mattress pad and two extra large pillows to use. You are also given a seatbelt kit that allows you to stay secure no matter what size (children) or position you're in. (There are metal brackets under the seat pocket in front of you to clip the belts to.) Pacific Economy was really nice on the 777-300s. The Inflight Entertainment System is very good. In addition, you can order drinks, snacks and other items that are delivered to your seat. Pretty cool. Self service shelves at the exit rows allow you to have a snack or drink whenever you like. The most noticeable feature of our Air New Zealand flights however, were the really friendly crew. We flew SFO-AKL-SYD-CHC-AKL-LAX, and every flight found us commenting on how nice the crew was. They all looked sharp and were consistently helpful and cheerful.
