My original GoPro mask mount setup was a great idea from the SpearDiver forum, but the mask was too small for my wide face. Also that mount setup puts the camera way in front of the lenses making the whole thing top heavy. That caused strong water leakage every time I dove down. My good buddy, Hide gave me his old scuba mask which is much larger than the freediving mask. I do not usually dive really deep, so this large mask is OK for now. I decided to make a GoPro Mask mount version 2. I have seen other divers using GoPro pivot arm bracket to attach the camera, but that still place the camera in front of a mask. In addition to the pivot bracket, I used the extension bracket to move the camera further back so that it sits directly on top of the mask frame. This made a big difference. The mask is still little heavier than no camera, but even if I shake my head violently, the mask stays in place. Hide and I came out to our usual spot to test the dive mask setup even though we knew the conditions would not be good. And we were right. Waves were pretty high, and the water seemed very murky. I was pretty scared of the high surf, but this should be a good strength test for the new setup. hahaha. Well, it survived the waves. I really like the setup now. The water was too murky for WSB (We did not want to shoot each other), so Hide and I decided to look for halibuts. When it is murky like this, we tend to see more of them. Right after we reached our halibut ground, I found a nice ...
